I'm adding a new series to the blog called Photo Of The Week. There are 2 main reasons I decided to do this: First, I failed at my Dogwood 52 Week Challenge, and second, I've been shooting a lot lately in my free time and have been building up a ton of photos.
Have you ever shot a photo or done something then immediately after wish you've done something else instead? I've had that with skating a few times and this was one of those instances with photography. I had taken this super wide shot at the Fulton Street train station in downtown manhattan which I liked a lot but had a slightly different vision. I envisioned someone standing at the top railing looking out over everything. The problem with this was that they have the top set of stairs blocked off so no one can get up there. Later that day while I was looking back on my photos, I had one of those "DUHH" moments where I knew I could've done something so simple to get what I wanted.
I ended up coming back here with my buddy Jon where I could get what I initially pictured. Since the top floor is still off limits, I had him pose just like this on the lower level and I was going to composite him on the top level later on. It worked just as I had imagined and this was 100% the photo I was looking for. Sometimes it pays to go back and fix your mistakes.
