Quite a few years ago when I lived in Phoenix, my friend Aaron was talking about a trip that he's been wanting to do which was a little different than a regular weekend trip or vacation. Him being a photographer himself wanted to get a few models and photographers together to shoot in a different environment together and see what we could come up with. Well here we are years later and he finally gathered all the resources and we made it happen!
The plan was to go to drive down to Puerto Peñasco, Mexico. I managed to be on the west coast during the same week so I was able to meet everyone in Phoenix for the trip. I didn't really know anyone going, nor have I ever been to Mexico so there was a lot of new elements involved for me. We had an amazing condo rented out a few hundred feet from the beach, everything was super cheap and the warm November weather was perfect.
Normally I would be happy to shoot photos with the other photographers but I had just gotten my A7SII a few days before I left so I needed an excuse to test it out. I decided to document the whole trip and make a video with everything we did. It was a really fun project since it was something I volunteered to do, there was no pressure, just my creativity to let lose. My personal favorite part was that I had a chance to skitch on a car on a highway in the middle of the dessert for a couple of shots!

Puerto Peñasco is an amazing little beach town which is popular for tourists out west but it's still so small that you get a very authentic Mexican vibe. There was a colorful town, white sandy beaches, crazy craters and infinite dessert all for us to shoot photos in. It was cool seeing everyone's different styles mesh together from photographers to models.
In the end, we all made new friends, had new work to show off back home and had some fun memories to hold on to. This is something we would like to grow and see expand more than a handful of people driving to Mexico. Photographers and models looking for a new experience are more than welcome for "Vacreation 2016"! (TBA)
