Since social media is so popular these days, I feel like its the best way for companies to advertise. More people are on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. than watch TV nowadays or read magazines so it makes sense to steer marketing and advertising in that direction. In relation to TV and magazines, social media is inexpensive, fast and super effective.
I wanted to test it out by making a little video ad for Heatwave Visual on my own. Besides their sunglasses being featured in the video, they really didn't have anything to do with it. I just wanted to experiment. I shot this short 15 second video 100% handheld with a Panasonic GH4 and Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8 lens.
Its far from perfect but it was fun to shoot. check it out:
With over 300 million users, these Instagram ads can be very effective. They're easy to make so that means a quick turn around time, they allow a ton of creative freedom, they're inexpensive if you wanted to hire someone to do this for your business and everyone has time to watch a 15 second video if they're scrolling through their news feed doing nothing anyway.
I plan on doing a few more of these in the near future. Hopefully with some higher production value so stay tuned...
