Up here, I'm already gone... - Los Angeles, CA

austin paz November 24, 2015

Whilst on my most recent trip to Los Angeles, I got to catch up with old friends from all over the world, attend the Blading Cup  , ride hoverboards on the beach,  shoot a super short film, and eat amazing but expensive food.  After going to Japan a few years back and regretfully didn't bring my camera, I made it a point to always bring my camera out with me where ever I travel.  This post is mostly a select few photos I shot on this trip.

My friend Adam and I took a drive up the coast to check out the cliffs along the beach in Malibu.   First stop was this random picnic table overlooking the view of the beach down below.  I set up my camera on a GorillaPod on another table a few yards away. Canon 6D, Canon 85mm f/1.8 (iso50, f/1.8, 1/3200s)

I saw these weird sculptures getting off the highway one night and had to go back for a few shots.  It was also a good time to test out the low light capabilities of my new Sony A7S II. Sony A7S II, Canon 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye (iso100, f/11, 8s)

Griffith Observatory is probably the best view of Los Angeles you'll get without flying in the sky.  I wanted a good sunset shot of the city and there happened to be a storm rolling through which sort of messed up seeing the sun setting but I still got some cool colors out of it.  Next time I'm in the area though I'll try to get another shot. After Adam locked himself out of his apartment in Santa Monica, we took an hour out of the day to shoot a super short film so I could test out the Sony A7S II which I got a few hours before leaving for LA. You can check it out HERE

This was definitely a highlight of the trip.  I've wanted to try one of these hover board thingys for so long and we got to give it a shot finally at Venice Beach where you can rent them.  It doesn't help at all trying to learn how to ride one in 25mph winds but we made it up and down the strip without dying so it was a success! A buddy of mine from New York, Shane , happened to be in LA for work the same time as me so we got to meet up in Santa Monica for a day.  He was a first timer also and was loving every minute of it.  We went up to a parking garage for some sunset shots and this was on the way down.   Canon 6D, Canon 85mm f/1.8 (iso250, f/2.8, 1/125s)
